我上中文课因为我想工作在温哥华的市政府 (municipal government)。我觉得在温哥华，很重要的听得懂和说中文。再说，我觉得上中文课很有意思。
My goal for this semester is to get comfortable enough with speaking Mandarin to use it in a short conversation outside of this class. I worked at a summer camp in Wesbrook this summer, and sometimes parents would prefer to speak Mandarin to the camp staff. I understood most of what they said but never felt confident enough to respond in Mandarin, so my goal is to be able to answer simple questions in Mandarin when I am at work.
I have one slightly embarrassing thing that happened to me in CHIN 133 - the course was online so I was doing the class on Zoom in my dorm room.老师请我们一起唱一个中文歌。 我有一个中文朋友，他住在我的宿舍，在同一楼。My friend told me after that he heard me singing, so I was a bit embarrassed. Also, I was connected to the class with headphones, so he didn’t hear any of the other students or background music, just me singing lol.
In learning Chinese, I think the most difficult thing for me has been feeling confident enough to speak out loud. In order to do this, I want to improve my pronunciation. I plan to work on my pronunciation by continuing to do the oral practices, as well as by participating more in class, and reading out loud to myself when I am doing homework assignments.
