庄雯钧 (Zoe) - 我写我的学习计划

大家好！我叫雯钧 (Zoe)。很高兴认识你们。我是三年级学生，但这是我的第二年上UBC的中文课。我的专业是言语科学，我的辅修（fǔxiū, minor）是教育学。我很开心能上CHIN331！我上这门课因为我想提高我的中文水平，特别我的中文写作（xiězuò, writing）和口语（kǒuyǔ, spoken language）能力。另外，我对中国文化和语言有兴趣。

My Chinese learning goal for this term is to be able to converse with a native speaker in a real-life scenario or casual conversation.再去过的 这个暑假，我在机场工作。因为我工作在机场的国际航站楼，所以很多旅客是从中国来的。我当然想帮助他们，可是他们听不懂英文。当我试试跟他们说中文，他们说话说得很快，我很难过😭

有的时候一位旅客问我是否我可以说中文。我回答他“可以”，但是他说话的时候，我一点儿都听不懂，所以我很尴尬！

Over the term, I would like to improve my Chinese pronunciation. I find that because I am so used to typing in 汉语拼音 for my Chinese assignments, which do not require tones, I am unsure of the tones of even common words. To overcome this obstacle, I can practice writing Chinese passages solely in 拼音. For new vocabulary, I can pay extra attention to my tones when speaking, even if this means speaking more slowly to improve my tone accuracy. Thus, my goal is not to speak more quickly right now, but to build up to fluency by bettering my pronunciation first.
