我在中文课的成长 Learning Journal 2
1. I have enjoyed taking CHIN 331; I know my Chinese has
improved as a result of taking this class.
I am more aware of the importance of phrasing and pitch; to not just
focus on the correct pronunciation of the tones. My goal at the beginning of the course was to
improve my speaking and listening so I found the self-pronunciation exercises, oral
practice in class and the tutorials helpful. Initially, it was uncomfortable doing the
self-pronunciation assignments but it was a good start to getting out of my
comfort zone in speaking Chinese. I found playing the textbook audio recording
repeatedly helped me with the correct pronunciation; I do not think I will ever
forget how to say 张天明 ! The oral practice tutorials are nerve-wracking as they are
intense; you are speaking Chinese for about 40 minutes so the tutorials are
definitely worthwhile. I found it
helpful to review the sheets as much as possible before the tutorial. I have been studying Chinese on my own the
last 3 years; I knew I had gaps in my learning.
These gaps are mainly in the grammar in terms of sentence
structure. This class has helped fill in
some of the gaps and also provided an opportunity to practice my speaking and
listening skills. Also, as a result of
this course I have learned to make videos of myself!
2. I find the learning environment in our classroom very
comfortable in speaking Chinese. Thank
you 李老师!I am
glad I switched from online classes to in-person classes. Everyone in our class is friendly and
patient.
3. Next semester, I hope to continue to improve in my
speaking and listening skills. Also, I need to make less grammar errors in the Writing Practice assignments. 下个学期我打算比较进步。
