Learning Journal 2: 杨婉美(Mei)

1. I feel that my Mandarin has improved after reviewing my earlier projects from the beginning of the term. My confidence in speaking Mandarin has increased as a result of my increased knowledge of vocabulary and useful sentence structures. I believe I can have a simple conversation in Mandarin right now. Even though some sounds such as z, zh, x are still difficult for me to pronounce, laoshi recommended me a website I know where I can go in order to practice these sounds. I am also able to read more sentences as my vocabulary range has expanded, and I am able to read them faster with in class practice. The intercultural interaction on the blog is also interesting because I can see responses from classmates and I can reply and comment of their posts as well. I also enjoy how much speaking practice we get in class Laoshi and the other classmates are also very nice, and everyone is really supportive and understanding when friends find it difficult to put sentences together or ask any question. Overall, I think CHIN331 is not an easy course, but the course is very fun and I learned so much from it.

2. I had a great time working on the midterm project since I got to collaborate with a friend I had made in this class. We had to write the script and record the video, which required a lot of our time together, which made the video-making process enjoyable.

3. I am hoping to continue learning Mandarin next semester in CHIN333 since I am enjoying this course and want to keep improving.
