This semester, I thought my Chinese progressed so much. Not only did I feel much more confident speaking, but I also felt that I learn a lot of vocab which I can take into the future. Although personally, this semester hasn't been the easiest, getting sick twice and missing multiple classes as well as OP, I definitely felt that these setbacks allowed for major comebacks, and although I wasn't able to show up to class, my absence encouraged me to study even harder to catch up.
I really liked our learning group. I felt that I fit in well and understood what needed to be done. I also was a big fan of our learning style and felt it helped enhance my learning. Whether that be through practice with classmates or the teacher, I felt very productive during these classes.
I have always had an issue with confidence when it comes to speaking, and this class has definitely helped me become more confident in speaking. This semester, I have been speaking much more Mandarin outside of class, and the increase in my vocab has really given me more motivation to speak with my friends and family.
A joyful moment for me was definitely when I was able to sustain a full-fledged conversation with one of my best friends. I felt really good and it was a big morale-boost, knowing that I have most definitely improved and can even become better.
As for my future in Chinese, I will be taking CHIN 333 and hope to continue to take CHIN classes throughout my time at UBC. Thank you to 李老师 and all my classmates who have played their role in teaching me something new. I look forward to what's ahead and hope to continue my progress in learning! I am very excited to be able to hopefully speak Chinese someday and hopefully, I can realize this goal :D
